Montessori Toddler Assistant

St. John the Baptist Catholic Montessori School is looking for our next Montessori Assistant to work with our Toddler Community (16-33 months) for the 2025–2026 academic year. Summer hours are also available in 2025 and 2026. We are looking for a faith-filled individual able to nurture and guide children in a creative and joyful learning environment. You’ll join a highly skilled team of educators committed to bringing both academics and the Catholic faith into children’s daily experiences.

This is a non-exempt role with an hourly range of $17.50-$18.50 depending on experience.

1. Understand, share, and accept the responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of the children at all times.
2. Help plan, organize, and supervise activities and events that occur during the school day.
3. Work with individuals or small groups of children as directed by the Toddler Guide.
4. Work with the Toddler Guide to complete necessary organizational tasks, i.e. birthday celebrations, snack and pantry stocking, and classroom celebrations.
5. Share responsibility for the care and maintenance of classroom materials, dusting and cleaning the environment, refilling supplies, and properly storing all classroom supplies as directed by the Toddler Guide.
6. Perform light janitorial work in the event of accidents, i.e. spills, bathroom accidents, illness, etc.
7. Supervise and support children with toileting.
8. Support the school’s mission, purposes, and objectives in a positive manner to parents and outside constituents.
9. Do laundry and dishes for the school community.

2. Have or build an understanding of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and work with trained catechists in the faith formation of children.
3. Have or build an understanding of the Montessori philosophy of education.
4. Love God and desire to share their faith with others.
5. Love children and desire to help them in their personal character, virtue, and faith development.
6. Be able to discipline children positively with gentleness, firmness, and consistency.
7. Be able to maintain a positive working relationship with other staff.
