Description

The Ministry Coordinator is responsible for organizing the many details necessary for successful liturgical celebrations, including weekend Masses. The goal is to provide a positive, welcoming experience to anyone worshipping at our parish. This person will serve as the staff resource person to the priest celebrating the liturgy as well as to the many lay ministers who help with the liturgical celebrations.

*SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Be present at 2 of the 3 Masses each weekend.
  • Oversee and communicate with Mass Coordinators to ensure they are aware of any changes in the celebration of the Mass; help to train them in their liturgical duties.
  • Scheduling Mass Coordinators to ensure adequate coverage at all Masses.
  • Train lectors, Eucharistic ministers, servers, greeters, ushers as needed; be the resource person at weekend Masses to ensure lectors are present and enough Eucharistic ministers are available.
  • Check in with altar servers before Mass to answer any questions; thank and praise them after Mass.
  • Recruit someone to carry cross into sanctuary at start of Mass if no lay minister is scheduled.
  • Help with special Mass set-ups during Lent/Advent/Easter/Christmas.
  • Oversee hospitality ministers; recruit additional help as needed.
  • Ordering and storing all liturgical supplies to include, but not limited to the bread, gluten-free hosts, and wine to ensure there is always an adequate supply.
  • Be the staff contact for any building issues during Mass times.
  • Advise and work with creative team on the Worship space.
  • Member of the Liturgy Committee.
  • Staff liaison to the Fun and Fellowship Council.
  • Coordinate the Sharing God’s Story and Children’s Liturgy of the Word program.
  • Attending staff meetings.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience as a liturgical minister.
  • Completion of a Criminal Background Check.
  • Demonstrated skills and interests in this type of work.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Skills for working with children, teenagers, adults, and families.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, computer, etc.) with the ability to communicate with staff and the parish community.
  • Desire and ability to work with a team.
  • Some study in theology/liturgy recommended.
  • Current knowledge of Catholic doctrine.
  • Ability to work well with others and maintain a collegial atmosphere.
  • Confidentiality, integrity, and honesty must be kept at all times.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with constant interruptions.
  • Ability to coordinate and implement multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Ability to plan, organize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to be pleasant and service-oriented even when exposed to negative influences.
  • Keep supervisor and others appropriately informed.
  • Must be able to separate personal life from professional life.
  • Must have the willingness and ability to demonstrate and learn technology skills as the position demands.
  • Post Vatican II / Pope Francis understanding of Church.
