Description

St. Joseph Catholic School in West St. Paul is currently seeking an outstanding middle school math teacher to join our school community for the 2024-25 school year.  We offer a strong Catholic mission and leadership, a welcoming gifted faculty, and a positive working environment. In short, the ideal candidate lives and imbues the following vision:

At St. Joseph Catholic School, we believe that our Catholic mission is everything; it is why we are here. Our mission at its core is evangelization: helping our young people to be good, faithful and productive citizens and even more importantly to know and love Jesus Christ and to be virtuous and active members of His Church. Our full commitment to academic excellence is not merely compatible with our school’s Catholic identity and mission- it is demanded by that very mission. We share in the great duty of providing an education that is both faithfully Catholic and academically first-rate.

At St. Joseph Catholic School, we are neither conservative nor moderate nor liberal when it comes to our faith – we are simply Catholic. We embrace the fullness of our faith as revealed by Christ and articulated to us in the Catechism and the Church’s official teachings. We are Catholic out of a total response of faith to the person of Jesus Christ. We live our faith with great joy, knowing that we live in the presence of the Lord.

St. Joseph Catholic School has a long and reputed history of over 74 years within the Archdiocese.  The school currently serves over 385 students in our K-8 program and an additional 70 in our preschool - many of whom are children and grandchildren of former students.  We are also experiencing steady enrollment growth, and have grown 7% in the past year.

We value and invest in our teachers.  Every full-time teacher at Saint Joseph’s receives the following benefits:

  • An opportunity to earn a free Master’s degree of your choice, tuition free, through the University of Saint Thomas or the Saint Paul Seminary.

  • A tuition discount of 75% for all children enrolled in the school, which becomes 100% for the fifth child enrolled.

  • Medical and dental coverage through Blue Cross and Blue Shield

  • A mentorship program for new teachers, partnering with veteran teachers to make sure their first year is a success.

Qualifications

The ideal applicant will have the following qualifications:

  • The ability to contribute to a culture of: (1) faith in Christ and His Church that is mature, informed, accountable, and dynamically missionary; (2) respect for the dignity, freedom, responsibility, and social vocation of the human person made in God’s image; and (3) human excellence reinforced through high, yet reasonable expectations for learning and for virtuous interactions among all members of the school community.

  • Strong classroom management skills, balancing classroom structure with rapport in working with kids.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in mathematics, math education, or a related field

  • Two of more years of teaching experience preferred, but not required

  • Current Minnesota teaching license preferred, but not required
