St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Savage is seeking a dynamic, faith-filled middle school teacher to join our faculty team! St. John’s is a Catholic school committed to providing a Christ-centered learning environment that fosters academic excellence, moral formation, and spiritual growth.

As a St. John’s School middle school teacher, you will play a vital role in inspiring and guiding our students to become lifelong learners who are rooted in Catholic values and committed to making a positive impact in the world. You will work collaboratively with other faculty members to create a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that promotes academic success, critical thinking, and creativity.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop, plan, and deliver engaging and differentiated instruction in accordance with state standards. You will be responsible for creating lesson plans and teaching materials that are appropriate for middle school students’ age and skill levels.
  • Select and assign literature assignments. You will be responsible for selecting and assigning literature that is appropriate for your students’ age and skill level. You will need to choose a variety of genres and texts that will engage your students and help them develop critical thinking skills.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom environment that fosters a love of learning and respect for others. You will need to establish rules and procedures, monitor student behavior,and maintain a safe and respectful classroom environment.
  • Build strong relationships with students and families by providing ongoing communication and support
  • Assess and monitor student progress. You will need to evaluate your students’ progress regularly. Provide feedback to your students and use assessment data to guide your instruction.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement a curriculum that integrates faith, values, virtues, current standards, and real-world experiences.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities. You are encouraged to enhance teaching skills and stay current in best practices in education. 
  • Actively contribute to the life of the school community, including participation in school-wide events, committees, and initiatives. 
  • Provide homeroom and religion instruction. 

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree
  • Current Minnesota teaching license or working toward obtaining license
  • Practicing Catholic who respects and exemplifies Catholic values both in and out of the classroom
  • Commitment to the Mission of St. John the Baptist Catholic School
  • Classroom experience working with middle school students is preferred however new graduates should apply
  • Ability to Incorporate educational technology according to best educational practices
  • Engage and inspire all students, honoring their diverse strengths and challenges
  • Strong communication and organizational skills to support effective engagement with parents, other faculty, staff and the overall parish and school community
  • Ability to create a positive, productive class environment 
  • Promote hands-on, inquiry based learning
  • Ability to pass all appropriate background checks and complete Virtus training. 
  • Passion for teaching and a commitment to ongoing professional development
