Description

The Junior Social Media Manager helps SPO bring the mission to life across digital platforms through creative, authentic, and mission-centered storytelling. You’ll support the strategy, content creation, and daily execution of SPO’s social presence, ensuring that everything we share reflects our charism values, brand voice, and the movement of the mission.

As part of a collaborative and fast-paced marketing team, you’ll contribute to campaigns, events, and creative projects that expand SPO’s digital reach and impact. This role offers hands-on experience in social strategy, content development, digital storytelling, and online engagement while growing in both professional skill and missionary identity.

Key Responsibilities:

Social Strategy & Planning

  • Support the development and execution of a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with SPO’s mission, charism, and brand voice
  • Plan and manage content calendars across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube)
  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and cross-functional teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment
  • Adapt content by platform and stay current on trends, tools, and best practices

Content Creation & Publishing

  • Create, edit, and publish engaging content (graphics, reels, carousels, short-form video) that highlights SPO’s people and mission
  • Capture and edit photo and video content for social use
  • Partner with the design team to produce high-quality, mission-driven creative assets
  • Ensure all content aligns with SPO’s Brand Guidelines (tone, language, visual identity)
  • Schedule and publish content consistently using approved tools

Engagement & Community Building

  • Foster meaningful engagement through comments, messages, reposts, and stories
  • Encourage missionaries, staff, and students to share and amplify SPO content
  • Monitor and respond to interactions in a timely, professional, and mission-aligned manner
  • Cultivate a welcoming, faith-filled online presence reflective of SPO’s charism
  • Identify opportunities to collaborate with mission-aligned creators and partners

Performance & Growth

  • Track and analyze performance metrics (reach, engagement, growth)
  • Report insights and recommendations to improve content and strategy
  • Use data to refine approach and strengthen overall impact

Mission Partner Development (Fundraising)

  • Invite others into financial partnership in support of SPO’s mission
  • Build and steward relationships with mission partners through regular communication
  • Connect donors to the mission through stories, updates, and invitations

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest).
  • Proven ability to manage content calendars and execute cohesive brand storytelling.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills with a knack for capturing authentic voice and tone.
  • Experience creating photo and video content for short-form storytelling.
  • Proficiency with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (esp Photoshop, Premiere Pro, or After Effects).
  • Strong photography and video editing skills for capturing and producing short-form content.
  • Knowledge of social scheduling tools (such as Meta Business Suite, Later, or Hootsuite).
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and dependable, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Flexible, proactive, and adaptable, with a positive approach to problem-solving.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality.
  • Self-starter with a desire to learn, take initiative, and grow in the role.
  • Commitment to excellence and continuous improvement with an eagerness to learn.
  • Passionate about evangelization and discipleship.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in digital media, social media, graphic design, marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Campus ministry or university outreach experience, prior experience with SPO is preferred.

Other Qualifications

  • Portfolio of social media work is required (professional, academic, or volunteer).
  • Familiarity with SPO’s mission, charisms, and way of life preferred.
  • Experience supporting or contributing to paid advertising campaigns is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of analytics and performance tracking for social media.
  • Trend-aware and passionate about using social media as a tool for evangelization.
  • Comfort with project management tools (such as Asana or Monday.com).
  • Willingness to flex creatively as team and needs evolve.
