Description

St. Joseph Catholic STEM School in Waconia, MN seeks a mission-aligned, detail-oriented, and tech-savvy IT Specialist to support the school's educational and operational technology infrastructure as well as the parish's technology needs. The IT Specialist is a part-time FTE (between 0.5 and .75) who plays a vital role in ensuring a seamless technological experience for staff, faculty, and students by maintaining hardware, managing software systems, and providing hands-on troubleshooting and support. This position directly supports our mission of forming students in faith, academics, and innovation. The position could be combined with other needs to become a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
Serve as the first point of contact for all technology-related issues from staff and students.

Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues across devices (Windows, Mac, Chromebooks, iPads, AV equipment).

Provide in-person support to classrooms during critical instructional times.

Device Management & Maintenance
Maintain and manage the school's technology inventory (e.g., laptops, projectors, printers, tablets).

Perform routine maintenance, updates, and configuration of all school-owned technology and devices.

Set up and image new computers and devices for staff and student use.

System Rostering & User Management
Handle user account creation, updates, and terminations across platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, Clever, LMS platforms).

Ensure timely rostering of students and staff in educational software and tools at the beginning and throughout the school year.

Maintain accurate digital records of users and system access.

Technology Setup & Support for Events and Instruction
Set up and maintain AV and tech equipment for school events, Masses, assemblies, and classroom presentations.

Support instructional staff in integrating technology into their teaching practices.

Train faculty and staff in the use of digital tools and resources when needed.

Security & Compliance
Monitor device security compliance including updates, antivirus, and web filtering (in alignment with CIPA and Diocesan standards).

Collaborate with school leadership to ensure alignment with data privacy policies and acceptable use guidelines.

Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT support or school-based tech services.

Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education, Windows/Mac operating systems, and Chromebooks.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-service mindset.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic school environment.

Alignment with the mission and values of Catholic education.

Preferred:
Experience with educational technology platforms (e.g., Clever, iPads, interactive whiteboards).

Knowledge of student information systems (SIS) or learning management systems (LMS).
