Description
We are currently looking for a House Mother with a heart for service to live at Peace House and be a consistent, overnight presence for up to three guest families.

Job Purpose
Peace House, a Catholic Worker Home of Hospitality supported by the Churches of St. Michael & St. Mary in Stillwater, Minnesota provides a safe, nurturing place for women and children experiencing homelessness. Our transitional housing model offers up to 6 months of stability, support, and care—empowering families to rebuild their lives.
Statement on Working for the Catholic Church
Employment in and by the Church is substantially different from secular employment. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Their behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, such that it can embarrass the Church or give rise to scandal. It is preferred that this employee be a Catholic. It is expected that all employees respect Catholic doctrine and religious practices. Representative Responsibilities
- Provide a calm, nurturing, and safe overnight home environment for women and children
- Be a caring and stable presence, encouraging guests toward independence
- Foster community through hospitality, listening, and mutual respect
- Be part of a collaborative team who will be offering the families emotional, spiritual and practical support
Position Highlights:
- Live-in role with overnight presence required (one weekend off per month)
- Room & board, all household expenses included
- $375 monthly stipend, as an employee of St. Michael’s Church
- Flexible daytime schedule—may work elsewhere during the day
- Located in Stillwater, MN
- Guest families receive case management and support services through other partner organizations. The House Mother’s main role is to be a consistent presence at home
Qualifications
- A High school graduate (or GED) or higher with a valid driver’s license
- A compassionate, calm, and dependable person
- You believe in the sacredness of every human life and are committed to upholding the Catholic church’s pro-life values by offering compassionate, nonjudgmental care to mothers and children in crisis.
- Experience with families or communal living is a plus, but not required
