Description
Position Summary
The Coach is responsible for leading BSM’s middle school girls tennis team (grades 6–8), developing practice plans, managing games, and fostering a safe, inclusive environment that aligns with BSM’s mission and character values.
Essential Responsibilities
- Plan and lead 1-2 practices per week, plus games/tournaments (typically 1 or 2 games weekly)
- Teach fundamentals (groundstrokes, serves, volleys), match play, and foster a love of tennis in players.
- Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, and personal growth in alignment with BSM's ethos.
- Communicate regularly and professionally with players, parents, the Athletics office and Head Varsity coach.
- Support administrative tasks: assist with rosters, uniforms, and compliance oversight.
- Attend all designated practices, games, and team events; coordinate with the athletic trainer and AD as needed.
Qualifications
Required:
- Experience playing or coaching tennis (lessons, youth, camps)
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work well with middle school-age girls
Preferred:
- Prior coaching experience in school or community settings
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Other Requirements:
- Background check and completion of BSM’s Safe Environment training
- Alignment with BSM’s Catholic education mission and values
Season & Time Commitment
- Season Duration: Typically begins early September and runs through mid October (dependent on Varsity schedule).
- Schedule: Events held 2–3 times/week after school; 1 or 2 games per week with practices

- BSM serves grades 6–12 with a robust athletic program and emphasizes participation, personal growth, and excellence. Middle school teams feed into the high school levels for many sports, including tennis.
- Middle school programs are tailored to players in grades 6–8 and are open to varying levels of experience and interest.
