Faithful Beginnings Assistant Teacher

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Faithful Beginnings Preschool Assistant Teacher to join our fun preschool team for the 2024/2025 school year.

As a preschool assistant teacher, you will support the lead teacher in providing an educational, nurturing, and stimulating school environment that facilitates learning, curiosity, and growth in our 3-5 year old preschool classroom.

This is a part-time, school year position beginning August 2024. Hours are Monday/Wednesday/Friday 8:30am-1:45pm

 There may be an option for more hours if combined with other para-professional or substitute responsibilities during the school day.

Essential Job Functions:

• Help create a positive and inclusive caring, faith-filled environment with developmentally appropriate educational activities, lessons, and hands-on experiences.
• Provide support to the lead teacher in implementation of the preschool curriculum.
• Help to create and prepare instructional materials.
• Provide support in learning activities, play activities, snack preparation, and class management.
• Supervise and ensure the safety of all children including when in the classroom, gym, outdoor playground, and cafeteria.
• Communicate and collaborate with Faithful Beginnings teachers and staff.
• Use effective behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior.
• Maintain a clean and well-organized space.
• Teach Catholic Christian values through word and example.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Have a bachelor’s degree and previous experience working with children in a preschool or early childhood setting or meet other DHS licensing requirements to qualify as an assistant teacher (0033 - MN Rules Part).
• Have a genuine appreciation of and enthusiasm for 3-5 year old children.
• Demonstrate positive classroom management techniques.
• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Establish and maintain working relationships with colleagues, and administration.
• Have a high standard of confidentiality.
• Complete a required Archdiocesan background check, VIRTUS training, and an additional required DHS background check before the start date.
• Candidate must be Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certified before start date.
• Complete required orientation and yearly training requirements.
• Be able to work 8:30am - 1:45pm Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday as well as some additional evening and weekends for conferences, trainings, family activities, and open houses.
