Description

As the after-school coordinator, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating extended care environment where children, aged 3-5 years, can have fun playing, learning, and growing.

This is a part-time, school year position beginning August 2024. Hours are Monday-Friday 1:15pm-5:45pm

 There may be an option for more hours if combined with para-professional or substitute responsibilities during the school day.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Create a positive and inclusive caring, faith-filled environment with developmentally appropriate educational activities, lessons, and hands-on experiences.
  • Organize structured, active, and quiet activities.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety of all children.
  • Communicate regularly with parents about the well-being of their children.
  • Provide regular communication with the Director and Faithful Beginnings teachers and staff.
  • Use effective behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized space.
  • Teach Catholic Christian values through word and example.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Have a bachelor’s degree and previous experience working with children in a preschool or early childhood setting or meet other DHS licensing requirements to qualify as a teacher (https://www.revisor.mn.gov/rules/9503.0032/).
  • Have a genuine appreciation of and enthusiasm for 3-5 year old children.
  • Demonstrate positive classroom management techniques.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent classroom management skills
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with parents, colleagues, and administration.
  • Have a high standard of confidentiality.
  • Complete a required Archdiocesan background check, VIRTUS training, and an additional required DHS background check before the start date.
  • Candidate must be Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certified before start date.
  • Complete required yearly training requirements.
  • Be able to work 1:15pm-5:45pm Monday-Friday as well as some additional evening and weekends for conferences, trainings, family activities, and open houses.
