Early Childhood Extended Care Teacher/Coordinator (Part-Time – School Year)

Are you passionate about working with young children and making a positive impact at the end of their school day? We are seeking a caring, creative, and reliable Extended Care Coordinator to join our vibrant preschool and pre-kindergarten team!

As a licensed program under the MN Department of Human Services, we are committed to providing high-quality care in a nurturing, faith-filled environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with 3–5-year-old children in a setting where joy, learning, and faith come together each day.

Position Details:

• Part-time, school year position
• Start Date: August 2025
• Core Hours: Monday–Friday, 1:30–5:45 PM
• Flexibility: Days can be flexible but must be consistent each week
• Potential for additional daytime hours as a para-professional or classroom substitute

What You’ll Do:

• Foster a safe, playful, and engaging environment for children during extended care hours
• Plan and lead age-appropriate games, crafts, and activities that support social and emotional development
• Model and teach Catholic values through kind words, actions, and faith-based guidance
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and communicate positively with families
• Support positive behavior using gentle guidance and visual tools
• Maintain a clean, welcoming, and well-organized space
• Help children transition from the school day to a more relaxed and fun afternoon routine

What We’re Looking For:

• At least 18 years of age
• Experience working with children ages 3–5 in an early childhood setting
• Must meet DHS licensing qualifications for a teacher (see licensing rules here)
• Positive, patient, and enthusiastic about young children’s development
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to manage a group with kindness and consistency
• Current (or willing to obtain) Pediatric CPR/First Aid, DHS background clearance, and VIRTUS/Archdiocesan training
• Willingness to complete required ongoing training

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Have a bachelor’s degree and previous experience working with children in a preschool or early childhood setting or meet other DHS licensing requirements to qualify as a teacher (https://www.revisor.mn.gov/rules/9503.0032/).
• Have a genuine appreciation of and enthusiasm for 3-5 year old children.
• Demonstrate positive classroom management techniques.
• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent classroom management skills
• Establish and maintain working relationships with parents, colleagues, and administration.
• Have a high standard of confidentiality.
• Complete a required Archdiocesan background check, VIRTUS training, and an additional required DHS background check before the start date.
• Candidate must be Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certified before start date.
• Complete required yearly training requirements.
• Be able to work 1:30pm-5:45pm Monday-Friday as well as some additional evening and weekends for conferences, trainings, family activities, and open houses.
