Description
Are you a professional leader with a "Steward’s Heart" and a "Builder’s Mindset?"
St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish is seeking a Director of Operations to serve as the operational backbone of our community. This is a unique, high-impact role designed for a leader who excels at high-level financial strategy and vendor negotiation but isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves to ensure our sacred grounds are pristine.
The Impact You Will Make
As the Director of Operations, you are the "guardian" of the parish’s physical and operational integrity. You will balance the books and the boiler room, ensuring that our resources are managed with excellence so that our ministry can flourish.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
-
Business & Finance: Lead the annual budgeting process, oversee HR compliance, and partner with our accounting firm to ensure we remain beyond reproach in our stewardship.
-
Facilities & Grounds: Develop and implement a 10-year facilities plan. You will oversee everything from HVAC systems and cemetery operations to organizing the volunteer teams that keep our grass cut and our walkways clear of snow.
-
Leadership & Culture: Serve as a vital resource to the Pastor, Principal, and Finance Council. You will supervise maintenance and custodial staff while fostering a culture of harmony and cooperative teamwork among staff and volunteers.
-
Vendor Management: Negotiate and audit third-party contracts (IT, Security, Landscaping) to ensure the parish receives the highest value for every dollar spent.
What We Are Looking For
-
Faith: A practicing Catholic in good standing who conducts themselves in a manner consistent with the mission of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.
-
Experience: 5+ years in operations management, business administration, or facility oversight.
-
Technical Credentials: A valid Boiler’s License is desired but not required. You should have a strong "Handyman IQ" (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) and a willingness to get your hands dirty when a project demands it.
-
Organizational Mastery: A self-starter who can manage complex record-keeping systems (Catholic Mutual, OSHA, PACE/Prism) with high levels of confidentiality and detail.
Schedule & Benefits
-
Work-Life Balance: Primarily Monday–Friday with a consistent 25+ hour work week.
-
Seasonal Flexibility: Enjoy reduced summer hours to recharge.
-
Mission-Driven Environment: Work in a supportive community where your professional skills directly contribute to the mission of the Church.
Qualifications
- Faith: Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing.
- Experience: 5+ years in operations management, business administration, or facility oversight.
- Licensure: Valid Boiler’s License required.
- Technical IQ: Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. Willingness to get your hands dirty and do the work as needed.
- Skills: Exceptional organizational ability, self-starter mindset, and proficiency in vendor negotiation.
