Description
Supervisory Responsibility: Musicians, cantors, choir, liturgical ministers and sacristans
Primary Purpose: The Director of Liturgy and Music assists with the Mission of the parish and is responsible for ensuring dynamic, quality liturgical celebrations and music that enhances the “full, conscious, active participation of the faithful” at the Church of the Holy Name.
Qualifications
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
1. Ability to direct choirs and congregational singing.
2. Knowledge of Catholic liturgy, including liturgical documents and music resources.
3. Knowledge of Roman Missal and Lectionary and the workings of the Roman Catholic Liturgy.
4. Strong personal code of ethics, including maintaining confidentiality and avoiding conflict of interest.
5. Must be a self-starter, motivated and energetic person, who is able to take initiative in fulfilling task in a professional manner and the ability to problem-solve
6. Must have a collaborative and diplomatic approach to ministry, i.e. maintains a supportive and respectful relationship with other staff members and lay leaders
7. Ability to supervise, mentor and evaluate volunteers.
8. Solid organizational, planning and communication skills.
9. Ability to work independently with little direct supervision and frequent interruptions.
10. Commitment to support and enhance the Gospel message through song, prayer and liturgical environment
11. Perform other work-related tasks as directed by the pastor and participate in staff meetings/tasks and parish events.
