Description

Purpose of Position: The Director plans, implements, oversees, and evaluates the faith formation and Sacramental preparation programs of the parish community, which includes children and adults. The position directly implements programming for adults and RCIA, small groups, parent engagement, and integration of lifelong discipleship offerings. The Director engages parishioners in the life of our parish by supporting their growth as co-partners in the mission field. Working to anchor the parish more firmly in the life of our neighborhood, the position also oversees all outreach efforts with parishioners, newcomers, seekers, neighbors, guests and those outside the parish.  

 Responsibilities: 

 Director Responsibilities 

  • Lead Team meetings 
  • Supervision of direct reports including annual reviews 
  • Administration and budgeting 
  • Develop and implement an overall pathway to discipleship at the parish that is in keeping with the directives of the Archdiocesan Synod which includes programs and events aimed at pre-evangelization, evangelization, discipleship and mission 
  • Lead monthly Direct Ministry Staff meetings 
  • Staff liaison to men’s and women’s quarterly events 

 Lifelong Discipleship/ Adult Faith Formation 

  • Plan, schedule, promote, organize and administrate ongoing Adult Faith Formation offerings 
  • Work with other parish staff and volunteers at providing formation for parents of those whose children are involved in Sacramental formation 
  • Develop content and reflection questions for Adult Faith Formation sessions 
  • Recruit speakers, cast vision and communicate with Adult Faith Formation speakers 
  • Record and disseminate content from Adult Faith Formation sessions with small group participants 

  Small Groups 

  • Organize small groups in conjunction with the implementation of the Archdiocesan Synod priorities 
  • Recruit, invite, form and train small group leaders, including inviting small group members to become leaders 
  • Ongoing communication and supervision with men’s small group leaders about small groups 
  • Develop, choose and organize content for small group leaders 
  • Small group point person for those interested or previously involved 
  • Updating small group information on website to ensure that it is user friendly and accessible 
  • Ensuring small group content and curriculum are conveying the truths of the church and in line with orthodox teaching 

  Discovering Catholicism/ RCIA  

  • Conduct annual registration receive and document registrations 
  • Sacramental record keeping pertinent to RCIA 
  • Plan and host RCIA inquiry sessions 
  • Develop of RCIA Program content 
  • Teach weekly RCIA sessions 
  • Ongoing relational investment in RCIA candidates 
  • Host fellowship opportunities for RCIA candidates 
  • Design and organize the Sunday Dismissal, Rite of Welcome, Scrutinies, Rites of Sending and Election, and the annual Holy Week retreat 

  

Outreach 

  • Serves on the Executive Cell for the Parish Synod Evangelization Team 
  • Meets people after Masses at all campuses 
  • Hosts events aimed at connecting new parishioners to the parish 
  • Hosts events aimed at people outside the parish 
  • Connects with people in the neighborhood and investing in friendship with goal of connecting with Church 
  • Raises up leaders in the parish to engage in mission work, helping them to meet parishioners and invest in relationships 
  • Organizes a yearly retreat aimed at parish leaders to help them grow as missionary disciples 

  

Community Building 

  • Responsible for parish outreach effectiveness: One-on-one ministry and Small Groups with a special focus on men, young adults, engaged couples and young families 
  • Strategic evaluation of parish activities and events, and event coordination and/or liaison support 
  • Organizes regular social and spiritual events with the goal of building community with existing members and welcoming new people. 
  • Organizes and oversees quarterly men’s and women’s events 
  • Support recruitment of volunteers for large parish events  
  • Supports the Parish Synod Evangelization Team, Pastoral Council and Stewardship Sub-Committee 
  • Assists with the New Parishioner Program and with making connections among parishioners 
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • College degree required with two to five years of evangelical outreach experience preferred 
  • Parish work experience preferred, and proficient with Microsoft Office programs 
  • Possess strong relational skills, and able to collaborate effectively in a team-based environment 
  • Solid understanding of Catholic Faith, rituals, calendar, and practices required 
  • Successfully complete required background checks and safe environment training 

  

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and communicate well orally and in writing 
  • Must be flexible with work schedule and to work for longer periods of time as needed 
  • Standard office sitting, lifting, standing and typing
