Description

Saint Joseph Church & School is seeking a mission-driven, relationship-centered Development & Stewardship Coordinator to lead efforts that inspire generosity, deepen engagement, and strengthen the financial vitality of our parish and school. This role is rooted in promoting a culture of stewardship—encouraging parishioners, school families, and alumni to share their gifts of time, talent, and treasure in support of our shared mission.  The ideal candidate is a strategic and faith-filled professional who understands development as ministry, values Catholic education and parish life, and brings experience in donor engagement, community building, and fundraising leadership.

Saint Joseph Church Catholic Church and School is a vibrant community that boasts a rich Catholic culture, attracts significant daily sacramental participation, promotes life (and is full of life), hosts perpetual Eucharistic Adoration (and has for more than 30 years), and cultivates fruitful vocations to the diaconate, priesthood, consecrated life, and marriage. We foster the communal life with opportunities for all ages, including social events; book studies; retreats for men, women, and youth; adult formation; works of mercy; senior gatherings; and more. We are fortunate to have one of the largest and most established Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) programs in the Archdiocese, fully-integrated within our school’s PreK-to-5th-Grade program.

Our school, a primary means of evangelization and education, has been serving young people for more than 75 years. Saint Joseph Catholic School forms joyful disciples of Jesus Christ who pursue academic excellence and cultivate a life of virtue. At the core of our school’s mission is evangelization: helping our young people to be good, faithful, and productive citizens – and even more importantly, to know and love Jesus Christ and be virtuous and active members of his Church. Our full commitment to academic excellence is not merely compatible with our school’s Catholic identity and mission, it is demanded by that very mission. We currently serve over 400 K-8 students and nearly 70 preschoolers.

Essential Responsibilities:

Stewardship Leadership

  • Foster a culture of gratitude and generosity through year-round stewardship education and engagement.
  • Collaborate with parish and school leadership to integrate stewardship principles into ministry life and community events.
  • Promote planned giving, legacy gifts, and other opportunities that align with long-term generosity and mission support.
  • Provide resources and guidance to parish and school families to help them discern and act on their call to stewardship.

Development & Fundraising Initiatives

  • Serve as the lead organizer for the School Gala and other key fundraising events.
  • Plan and execute a variety of development initiatives including Give Day, the school-wide Raffle, and creative new campaigns.
  • Lead the Annual School Giving Campaign to encourage broad participation across parish and school communities.
  • Partner with the Communications Coordinator to share impact stories and highlight donor generosity.

Donor Engagement & Community Building

  • Cultivate strong relationships with donors, alumni, parishioners, and foundations through personal outreach, and regular publications and communication.
  • Serve as a visible and approachable leader within the parish and school, helping connect individuals to meaningful opportunities for giving and involvement.
  • Coordinate alumni relations and engagement strategies to build long-term relationships and loyalty.

Sustainable Giving & Endowment Support

  • Support the growth and stewardship of parish and school endowments as one piece of a long-term financial strategy.
  • Educate the community about the impact of legacy and planned giving.
  • Work with leadership to identify funding priorities and align them with donor interests and goals.

Strategic Campaigns & Collaboration

  • Take a leadership role in preparing for the upcoming Archdiocesan Capital Campaign and future parish or school campaigns.
  • Collaborate with clergy, staff, and ministry leaders to ensure unified messaging and mission-driven fundraising efforts.

Qualifications

  • A strong understanding of, commitment to, and passion for the mission of the Catholic Church and Catholic education as defined by the Church is required.
  • A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff, colleagues, and volunteers, while fostering a positive and team-oriented work environment.
  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, nonprofit management or a related field is preferred. Previous experience in development / stewardship is highly preferred.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with a natural ability to connect with various audiences in a meaningful way and to communicate with a consistent voice. Superior interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, engage stakeholders, and lead successful fundraising efforts.
  • Deep understanding of stewardship as a spiritual and community-building practice.
  • Familiarity with planned giving and endowment strategies.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends around key events and deadlines.
