Description
Job Purpose: To assist the parish with the ministry and formation needs of St. John’s families that have children in grades 6-12 as they encounter Christ and learn to live in the heart of the Catholic Church. This position will provide a dynamic and comprehensive program for youth in grades 6-12 and campus ministry in the parish school. This position will provide ministry to all parish families, both in the church and the school, as well as non-parish school families.
Responsibilities include planning, organizing and leading discipleship formation for youth through youth group, discipleship small groups as well as faith formation for non-SJB school families and confirmation program. Recruiting, equipping and forming adult leaders as they are guided to serve youth. Overseeing the implementation of a comprehensive program that links from 5th grade formation through teen years and transitioning into young adult ministry. This will include discipling parents and adults as well as youth.
Ministries
Middle School Formation and Ministry with Core Team

- Recruit, equip and form catechists/core team to lead Middle School Formation program on Wednesday evening.
- Lead with Core Team a weekly formation curriculum for students in grades 6, 7, 8 incorporating parent communication and ministry.
- Lead Middle School Youth Group once a month.
- Coordinate D groups for Middle School students.
- Plan and lead three social events through the year.
- Lead summer Middle School Youth Group, Totus Tuus evening program and Extreme Faith Camp.
Middle School Campus Ministry in parish school.

- Recruit, equip and form catechists/core team to lead Middle School Formation program on Wednesday evening.
- Assist middle school teachers in the overall formation of students and religion curriculum for grades 6, 7, 8
- Work in collaboration with the middle school teachers in the planning and implementation of liturgies like Reconciliation and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and retreats.
- Relational ministry to students around the school day and school activities.
Coordinate Confirmation program and High School Ministry for students grades 9-12 with Core Team

- Lead with Core Team a weekly confirmation formation curriculum for students in grades 9-12 incorporating parent communication and ministry of several parent/sponsor nights and confirmation retreat.
- Coordinate and lead High School Youth Group, D groups, onsite and outside parish events.
- Lead summer High School Ministry including Mission Trip and Steubenville Conference.
- Serve as Staff Lead in identifying and connecting with young adults into parish ministry
- Oversee monthly communication to young adult community
- Staff Lead for monthly social event
- Work collaboratively with staff to transition young adults into adult ministries such as ministry for men, women, small groups, marriage and preschool.
Qualifications
- Must be a practicing Catholic with a sound understanding of Catholic Tradition and Scripture.
- Demonstrate understanding and acceptance of Catholic doctrine.
- Bachelor of arts degree in ministry, theology or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Three years’ experience working in similar position desired.
- Demonstrated skills and interests in this type of work.
- Desire to help lead youth of the parish to become authentic disciples of Jesus Christ.
- Ability to satisfactorily pass a criminal background check.
- Strong computer and social media skills. Be knowledgeable in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook).
