Job Title: Communications and Administrative Associate
FLSA: Full time; Non-exempt
Pay range: $20 -$25/hour
Reports to: Operations Manager
Takes direction from Business Manager, Faith Formation Coordinator/Liturgy Coordinator
JOB PURPOSE: This position is responsible for utilizing the many forms of communication to keep staff and parishioners informed of all parish activities and events. These include putting together the paper and e-bulletin, maintaining, and updating the website, tv screens and email newsletter. This position will also be responsible for assisting and supporting the Faith Formation Coordinators and the Business Manager with their daily duties as needed. All of these will help to keep parishioners aware of the many ways they can become engaged in parish life.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Employment in and by the Church is substantially different from secular employment. Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church. Their behavior must not violate the faith, morals, or laws of the Church or the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, such that it can embarrass the Church or give rise to scandal. This position does not require that the employee be a Catholic. It is expected, however, that all employees will respect Catholic Doctrine and religious practices and demonstrate understanding and willingness to work with Catholic Church doctrine and policies in areas of liturgy, sacraments, morality, and education. Reasonable accommodation for the religious practices of employees not of the Roman Catholic faith will similarly be provided.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Some evening and weekend work will be required
Specific areas of responsibility:
- Maintain the parish website with direction from the Operations Manager. Consult with necessary staff and parish groups regarding content.
- Design and edit the weekly paper bulletin. The written content for articles should be written and provided by staff, councils, or committees in a timely manner.
- Utilizing the information provided for the weekly bulletin, design and distribute the weekly email newsletter using “Constant Contact.”
- Collaborate with staff, councils, and committees to continuously update the parish website. It is our goal as a parish to provide a website that gives new and prospective parishioners a place where they can go to get current information about our parish and its activities. Creativity and willingness to search for new options for the website are encouraged.
- Update social media weekly or as needed (Facebook, Instagram)
- Attend weekly staff meetings and annual staff retreat.
- Create posters/flyers for upcoming events.
- Maintain parish bulletin boards.
- Utilize organizational skills to work with other staff members to help organize work areas.
- Schedule spots on YouTube for the weekly livestream
- Create slides for every livestream (both weekly and for funerals as needed)
- Create sign ups using Sign Up Genius
- Assist faith formation in a number of areas including:
- Getting registration sign-up ready, including on-line sign up.
- Preparing projects for classes
- Post upcoming events.
- Promo flyers for faith formation families
- Assisting with the 1st Eucharist retreat
- Assisting with VBS registration, flyers and prepping the space with decorations
- Provide administrative support with
- Sign-up sheets for liturgical ministers (Advent/Christmas, Lent/Easter)
- Online sign up for liturgical ministers (greeters, Eucharistic ministers)
- Print and fold weekly worship aids.
- Provide administrative support to Business Manager
- Take responsibility for answering the phone.
- Keep track of inventory of kitchen and office supplies.
- Assist with liturgical paperwork.
- Keeping supervisors informed

Skills, knowledge, and abilities required:
- Completion and passing a Criminal Background Check
- Demonstrated skills and interest in this type of work
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written)
- Comfortable and proficient in the area of information technology
- Confidentiality, integrity, and honesty in all areas of the job
- Ability to work well with all personality types and maintain a collegial atmosphere even when exposed to negative influences
- Ability to work under pressure with constant interruptions and meet all deadlines
- Excellent organizational skills
