Description
Annunciation Catholic School is a dynamic, welcoming, and inclusive Catholic International Baccalaureate (IB) World school, currently serving students from Kindergarten through 8th grade in the heart of Southwest Minneapolis since 1923. Annunciation is proud to open its own preschool in June 2026.
Job Purpose: Annunciation Catholic School is seeking a Preschool Assistant Teacher. The Preschool Assistant Teacher is an educational and spiritual leader who encourages excellence in all students. The Assistant Teacher supports the classroom in fulfilling desired student learning outcomes in accordance with the International Baccalaureate Curriculum. This position is also responsible for supporting, teaching, and mentoring the Catholic faith.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Development of Students
- Maintains positive interactions and social-emotional skills with students. Setting high
standards for student behavior and manages inappropriate behavior effectively.
- Identifies areas for students to grow academically, spiritually, physically, emotionally and/or socially and fosters meaningful growth in these areas.
- Support the Lead Teacher in Implementing Instructional Practices
- Assists in demonstrating competence through knowledge of curriculum and subject matter and is able to measure and analyze student performance and to inform subsequent planning and instruction.
- Communicates effectively with students and cooperates with other teachers, specialists and local district special education personnel, counselors, administrators, etc. to assist in identifying and responding to the academic and/or learning needs of students.
- Learning Environment
- Creates an environment of respect, warmth, caring, and fairness, integrating Christian values for all students.
- Assists in maintaining a clean, functional, and pleasant classroom.
- Actively supervise students in your charge.
- Assist with Planning and Preparation
- Assist with the preparation of lessons designed to implement stated goals and objectives, and by incorporating school and diocesan curriculum standards in lesson plans.
- Dedication and Commitment
- Is present where needed, ready to work as needed to meet responsibilities.
- Attends any meetings/programs required by parish, school, Office of Catholic Schools, and/or Archdiocese.
- Maintains confidentiality of information, displays sound judgment in dress and general behavior.
- Maturity and Cooperative Teamwork
- Helps create a productive environment where there is harmony, good morale, and cooperative teamwork.
- Maintain Parental and Community Relationships
- Maintains consistent, professional, appropriate, and confidential communication with parent/guardian regarding student progress.
- Other Responsibilities
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal and/or Division Director
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor Degree
- Current MN Teaching Licensure Preferred
- Have an understanding of theInternational Baccalaureate Curriculum (IB) philosophy of education or be excited to learn more about the IB method.
- Demonstrates:

- Pass required background check.
