Description

St. Hubert Catholic School is now accepting applications for an engaging, enthusiastic, and personable full-time 6th grade math and social studies teacher beginning August 2024. The St. Hubert middle school motto is: 'Engaged, Faithful Leaders'. The ideal candidate will work to incorporate and animate this motto into the language arts classes by understanding Middle School students developmentally and pedagogically, being a student-centered continuous learner, and by supporting and challenging students to grow spiritually, academically, and socially.

The position’s primary duties are teaching math and social studies to students in 6th grade, and leading a middle school house. Daily duties include lesson planning and delivery, collaborating with colleagues, student supervision, communicating with parents, grading student work, and maintaining accurate records. Important characteristics include building and maintaining positive working relationships with students, focusing on engaged student learning including project-based learning and other student-centered learning strategies, maintaining effective and appropriate classroom management, collaborating on a team, and effectively integrating technology into instruction.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor Degree, Masters Degree preferred
  • Current MN Teaching Licensure Preferred
  • Be willing to support and uphold the teaching of the Catholic faith
  • Experience and/or training in teaching
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective lesson plans
  • Ability to effectively manage a middle school classroom
  • Pass required background check
  • Complete VIRTUS training
  • Demonstrates:
    • polished and effective oral and written communication skills
    • ability to effectively and collegially work with others.
    • ability to make decisions.
    • ability to work without supervision.
    • ability to learn and implement new educational strategies
    • ability to manage and maintain a classroom of students effectively
    • ability to to keep supervisor and others appropriately informed
