Visitation School seeks a full-time (.8-1.0) Upper School Science Teacher (grades 9-12) beginning August 2024.  

The Upper School Science teacher is responsible for cultivating and fostering an enduring love for science and deep curiosity about the world within an already vibrant all-girls Upper School Science program. Focusing on hands-on inquiry-based instruction, the teacher will be primarily responsible for chemistry science courses as well as oversight of a year-long independent advanced math and science research course for juniors and seniors.

Visitation is an independent Catholic day school with a culture permeated by Salesian Spirituality. We offer a unique combination of learning experiences with a co-ed Lower School (Montessori preschool through grade 5), an all-girls Middle School (grades 6-8), and an all-girls Upper School (grades 9-12).   • Possesses outstanding verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, and unwavering professionalism.
  • Has the ability and energy to create an engaging and developmentally appropriate environment where students are known, loved, and challenged to be their best selves in and outside of the classroom. Excitement to create, deliver, and continuously refine a program tailored to an all-girls environment.
  • Awareness of causes that traditionally lead to decreases in engagement for adolescent girls in STEM fields, as well as specific strategies teachers can use to counteract those causes.
  • Demonstrates clear ability to envision, plan, implement, and refine programs, projects and initiatives that lead to a rich learning environment

Bachelor’s Degree in a science-related field with three to five years of teaching experience is required. A Master’s degree, prior teaching experience in an independent school, and research experience preferred.
