Description

St. Joseph Church is seeking an energetic self-starter who is ready to to learn and collaborate on definining this revamped support position.

This role will provide administrative support to and work closely with the Director of Engagement & Communications to identify key administrative support functions required to support effective ministry planning, preparation and implementation.  This position will be scheduled for 16-20 hours per week, M-Th with 4-5 hours per day, 12 months per year, without benefits.  May require 5 hours to be worked on 1 Sunday per month. Negotiable.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assist with prompting, tracking, and filing for Essential 3 Safe Environment Process
  • Provide support to assigned directors with ministry updates to parish calendar in e-space
  • Coordinate volunteer schedule & training for weekend Nursery & Donut Sunday Ministries from September through May
  • Assist with Monthly New Resident Mailer & Annual Christmas Mailing
  • Assist with New Member Welcome Process
  • Document parish member engagement & communications in parish database
  • Support Hospitality Ministries including funerals, staff functions, stocking office refrigerator, etc. by ordering food, supplies, providing clean up, laundering towels, submitting kitchen janitorial requests, etc.
  • Provide back up to Engagement & Communications Director as needed for update of electronic signage, web content, and design & submission of weekly bulletin and email transmissions
  • Serve as backup for the receptionist when it does not interfere with other deadlines:
    • Greet parishioners in a caring and friendly manner
    • Assist or redirect visitors as appropriate
    • Answer incoming phone calls and inquiries
    • Monitor Gathering Space traffic when needed

Qualifications

  • A person of Catholic faith committed to Gospel values
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills that will build effective relationships with parish staff, parish leaders, parish members and other key parish stakeholders
  • Proven ability and desire to work in a collaborative, team-based work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects and work assignments
    at the same time
  • Proven ability to accurately input data and maintain database
  • Exhibited ability to recognize and maintain confidentiality
  • Shown desire to maintain current skills through networking, research and
    educational opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to keep a cheerful disposition even in stressful circumstances
  • Confirmed ability to use all office equipment and software as required by
    responsibilities
  • Demonstrated experience working in volunteer-based, nonprofit organizations
    preferred
