Description

Position Summary

St. Alphonsus Catholic School seeks a dedicated 3rd and 4th grade teacher for the 2024–2025 school year. We are looking for an energetic individual who is passionate about shaping young hearts and minds in a combined classroom setting. This role is pivotal in our mission to provide a nurturing and academically challenging environment where students grow in faith and knowledge. We see the 3rd and 4th grades as a pivotal stage in a child’s education, where our scholars transition from learning to read, to reading to learn. We are looking for someone to build upon the firm foundations in reading and math and take their learning to new heights!

About St. Alphonsus

An unwavering commitment to delivering a personal education tailored to the holistic needs of each child sets St. Alphonsus apart. Our small class sizes allow for personalized attention and a strong bond between teachers and students. We also utilize the blending learning model developed by the University of Notre Dame, where students use adaptive, online software in classrooms to master material at levels that match their skills as teachers use the rich data from these programs to personalize their instruction and make targeted interventions.

With our dedicated faculty, staff, families, and partners, St. Alphonsus undertakes a critically important mission in Catholic urban education. We invite you to join us if you share our passion for Catholic urban education and feel called to be Christ’s hands and feet to a diverse student body.

Value Proposition

We value and invest in our teachers. Every full-time teacher at St. Alphonsus receives:

  • COMPETITIVE SALARY AND BENEFITS – Our starting teacher salaries are within the top 25th percentile for PK–8th Archdiocesan Catholic schools. We also offer health insurance, dental insurance, and professional development opportunities to support your career growth.
  • FREE MASTER’S DEGREE – Receive a master’s degree of your choice (tuition-free!) through the University of Saint Thomas or the Saint Paul Seminary.
  • SMALL CLASS SIZES – With smaller class sizes, you'll have the chance to make a significant impact on each student's learning experience and build meaningful relationships. It also makes for a prime environment for newer teachers to hone their skills, improve their classroom management, and get immediate feedback on the quality of their teaching.
  • SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY – Join a team of dedicated educators and staff who are passionate about Catholic urban education.
  • FAITH-FILLED ENVIRONMENT – Bring your whole self to work. We want you to teach and test, pray and play throughout the school day. We see the integration of faith into our students’ daily learning as essential and a unique opportunity.
