Description

Benilde–St. Margaret’s School seeks a full-time Computer Science  & Robotics Instructor to join our nationally recognized engineering program. BSM Engineering is a premier learning and teaching experience that expands expectations beyond a traditional robotics curriculum. Our students compete internationally at a collegiate level and engage in authentic design, fabrication, and systems-based problem solving.

This position is ideal for an educator—or industry professional transitioning into education—who values design thinking, collaborative problem solving, and student-centered learning over traditional lecture-based instruction.

About the Program

BSM Engineering operates in a high-quality makerspace equipped with:

  • 3D printers
  • Laser cutter
  • CAD workstations
  • Python programming interfaces
  • Agile development processes
  • Advanced fabrication and prototyping tools

Students are challenged to:

  • Learn through intentional failure and iteration
  • Take academic risks
  • Collaborate meaningfully with peers
  • Solve authentic, real-world problems

Faculty operate as a team, guiding students in thought processes and engineering design methodology rather than primarily delivering content on mechanical laws or programming syntax.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in engineering, robotics, computer science, manufacturing, product design, or related field
  • Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages
  • Experience in project-based learning environments (formal or informal)
  • Coaching or mentoring experience

Required Qualities

  • Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn emerging technologies
  • Ability to facilitate rather than lecture
  • Comfort with ambiguity, iteration, and problem solving
  • Growth mindset and enthusiasm for learning alongside students
  • Commitment to teamwork and collaborative culture
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

No specific technical specialty is required. Fabrication experience is a plus but not mandatory.

Responsibilities to BSM as a Catholic School:

Except in the teaching of religion, it is not an essential prerequisite that all employees be Catholic.  However, all employees are expected to respect the teaching of the Church.

Application Instructions

Interested candidates should direct their letter and resume to High School Principal Dan Wrobleski via email to DWrobleski@BSMschool.org
