Description

To provide high-quality, engaging visual arts instruction for assigned grade levels in accordance with the school/parish mission statements, guiding principles, philosophy, handbooks, curriculum, and directions established by the principal, assistant principal, president, and pastor.

We are looking for candidates, who are mission driven, attentive to results and have a strong calling to serve in a faith-filled urban school.

General Responsibilities:

This role is part-time (.5 FTE), focused primarily on art instruction and related tasks:

  • Instruction & Curriculum: Develop, plan, and execute age-appropriate art lessons (e.g., drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media) that align with academic standards.
  • Art Room Management: Effectively manage and maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring art classroom, including inventory, ordering supplies, and proper use of art tools.
  • Assessment: Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback on artistic skills and effort.
  • Exhibits & Showcases: Prepare and display student artwork throughout the school and for school-wide or community events.
  • Collaboration: Actively participate in faculty meetings and learning teams as required by the part-time schedule (specific attendance requirements will be determined by the principal).
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with parents, faculty/staff, and administrators regarding student progress and art program needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Education or related field
  • Successful completion of background check
  • Knowledge of and commitment to Catholic School Mission and Philosophy
  • Demonstrated classroom management and age-appropriate teaching skills
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and create learning objectives for diverse learners
  • Proficiency in educational technology and Google Office Suite
  • Strong communication and collaborative skills with faculty, parents, and administrators
  • Active participation in faculty meetings and professional development opportunities
  • Ability to maintain student confidentiality and demonstrate professional integrity
  • Dedication to professional growth and emerging educational practices
  • Experience developing and implementing engaging lesson plans
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Physical Requirements

  • Able to work 20 hours per week
  • Fulfill total commitments of the educational program and other activities of the school year
  • Able to attend school-related activities deemed necessary by the principal and/or assistant principal
  • Able to move around a room for long periods of time
  • Able to speak, see, hear, and respond to students, co-workers, supervisor, etc. at all times
