Description

Benilde-St. Margaret’s School (BSM) seeks a Varsity Head Baseball Coach to lead its storied program. The Head Coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the baseball program 6th-12th grade, hiring and guiding assistant coaches, developing practice and game strategies, and fostering a safe, competitive, and character-driven environment that reflects BSM’s mission and values.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and lead daily practices, strength/conditioning sessions, and competitive games throughout the spring season and offseason.
  • Develop game strategies, lineups, and scouting reports while fostering player growth and team cohesion.
  • Supervise and mentor assistant and lower-level coaches to ensure program consistency and alignment.
  • Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, and personal accountability both on and off the field.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with players, parents, assistant coaches, and the Athletics Office.
  • Support administrative tasks including rosters, uniforms, scheduling, transportation, and MSHSL compliance.
  • Collaborate with the athletic trainer to ensure athlete health and safety.
  • Represent BSM baseball within the Metro West Conference and MSHSL.

Season & Time Commitment

  • Season Duration: Mid-March through early June (dependent on section and state tournament advancement).
  • Schedule: Daily practices and games during the spring season; offseason program development and player communication expected.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Required:

  • Prior experience playing or coaching competitive baseball (high school, collegiate, or higher).
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to create a positive and disciplined environment that develops athletes both as players and people.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience as a head or assistant coach at the high school or collegiate level.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Knowledge of MSHSL rules and regulations.

  • Successful completion of background check and BSM Safe Environment training.
  • Commitment to BSM’s Catholic, college-prep mission and values.
