Early Childhood Coordinator

DESCRIPTION

Christ the King is seeking an engaged and experienced person to strengthen the Faith Formation program and parish discipleship through coordination of early childhood offerings.  This person will build relationships with parents, children and volunteers in order to best meet their needs and be a model of discipleship.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• To work with the Director of Discipleship to organize and implement Faith Formation programming for Sunday Preschool, prepare for weekly and on-going needs of Children’s Liturgy of the Word and a nursery option for the 9:00 a.m. Mass each Sunday.
• Act as host of Baptisms as needed.
• Work on curriculum development and selection of materials for programs that are age-appropriate, follow expectations and develop discipleship.
• Supervise,  recruit, and assist in training volunteer leaders and catechists; ensure that Safe Environment policies are followed.
• Assist with Faith Formation registration and record-keeping for Early Childhood participants.
• Communicate program budget needs to the Director of Discipleship and oversee use of funds and materials.
• Maintain effective channels of communication with Early Childhood families.
• Develop rapport with parish families and leaders through relational ministry.
• Foster a spirit of discipleship in all areas.
• Collaborate with the Faith Formation team and other parish staff to accomplish ministry goals in line with the parish mission; participate in staff meetings.
• Assist in organizing childcare options for major parish events as needed.
• Other duties as assigned and agreed upon.

This role includes being present in person on Sundays when programs are taking place.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Teaching or coordinating experience preferred with demonstrated ability to manage children and volunteers effectively.
• Experience with the organizational needs and effective implementation of children's formation in a parish setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with parents, colleagues, and administration.
• Discretion and sensitivity in handling confidential information and family needs.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to details and deadlines.
• Professionalism and the ability to work without direct supervision during programs.
• Active, practicing Catholic with solid knowledge of the Catholic Faith, rituals, calendar, and practices.
• Strong practical computer skills, especially pertaining to communicating with families and the greater parish. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
• Successfully complete background check and standard Virtus training.
• Related college degree or early childhood certification preferred.
