About the Opportunity

St. Jude of the Lake Catholic Church is seeking a dependable, hands on Facilities Care Coordinator to lead the maintenance, safety, and readiness of our parish and school campus including church, school, rectory, and grounds.

This role combines leadership with practical expertise, helping us create a welcoming, safe, and hospitable environment for worship, learning, and community life.

What You’ll Do

Facilities Oversight

  • Manage the daily upkeep of all parish buildings and grounds
  • Conduct regular inspections and schedule preventative maintenance
  • Respond to facility related emergencies and repair needs

Custodial Supervision

  • Oversee custodial team and volunteers, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and safety
  • Maintain work schedules, task lists, and supply inventories

Vendor Management

  • Coordinate and evaluate vendors and contractors for services like HVAC, landscaping, and snow removal
  • Ensure compliance with licensing, insurance, and quality standards

Event and Space Coordination

  • Set up and support liturgies, weddings, funerals, parish events, and school activities
  • Manage facility scheduling tools and ensure spaces are prepared for use

Grounds and Seasonal Maintenance

  • Lead snow removal, landscaping, and seasonal prep with internal or external teams
  • Maintain outdoor areas including parking lots, green spaces, and rectory yard

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure OSHA, Catholic Mutual, and Archdiocesan safety standards are met
  • Monitor building security, key access, and emergency procedures

Strategic Support

  • Track facilities expenses and assist with budgeting
  • Advise on long term campus improvements and capital projects

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 3 to 5 years in facilities, maintenance, or building operations
  • Supervisory and vendor management experience preferred

Skills & Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with task tracking and scheduling software (e.g. eSpace or similar)
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in various conditions
