Description

Ascension Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and organized Afterschool Care Coordinator to oversee all aspects of our after school programming. This position is vital in supporting our students' academic and personal growth beyond the regular school day. The Afterschool Care Coordinator will manage daily operations, ensure a safe and enriching environment, and facilitate communication between the after school program, teachers, and parents. This position is full-time, with salary. 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday (specific hours may be adjusted based on program needs)

Responsibilities:

  • Program Management:
    • Oversee the daily operations of the after school program, ensuring a structured and engaging environment for students.
    • Develop and implement age-appropriate activities and projects that align with the school's mission and values.
    • Manage student enrollment, attendance, and parent communication.
  • Staff Supervision:
    • Manage and supervise After Care supervisors.
    • Create and implement a substitute plan when a supervisor is absent.
    • Provide guidance and support to after school program staff, ensuring effective student supervision and behavior management.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Act as a liaison between the after school program, classroom teachers, and parents.
    • Communicate reading and math supplemental program results and student needs to teachers, facilitating individualized support.
    • Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and program updates.
  • Student Support and Supervision:
    • Direct supervisors as needed regarding student supervision.
    • Address student behavior issues, documenting incidents and collaborating with the Assistant Principal for appropriate follow-up.
    • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students in the after school program, both indoors and outdoors.
    • Document and report health and injury incidents according to established procedures.
  • Resource Management:
    • Manage snack distribution and reporting, coordinating with the school office for ordering needs.
    • Maintain accurate snack lists and aftercare rosters, tracking attendance and student departures.
    • Manage and help order or find games, materials, and other aftercare projects.
    • Coordinate the use of classroom spaces and facilities, ensuring proper cleaning and lock-up procedures.
  • Volunteer Coordination:
    • Manage volunteers and high school students assisting during after care hours.
    • Communicate any concerns regarding volunteers to appropriate personnel.
    • Manage the Chromebook for Visitor Aware sign-out for after office hour volunteers.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Potentially serve as a substitute teacher during the school year as needed.
    • Ensure compliance with all school policies and procedures.
    • Citadel FOB calls and incident reporting.
    • Unlocked doors, campus or off campus safety incidents.

Salary Range: $53,000 - $56,100

Starting salary is determined by the candidate's experience and education level

Ascension Catholic Academy follows a structured step-and-lane salary schedule similar to public school. The final compensation package will be based on verified teaching experience and educational credentials.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with elementary and/or middle school-aged children in a structured setting.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and supervise staff effectively.
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate activities and programming.
  • Familiarity with behavior management techniques.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and school administration.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and meet all Diocesan requirements for employment.

Physical Requirements:

  •  Ability to work a full-time schedule of 40+ hours per week, including attendance at required school events (graduation, holiday programs, and other activities as determined by administration)
  •  Sustained mobility to move throughout classroom and school environments for extended periods
  •  Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks required in an educational setting
  • Full sensory capabilities including ability to speak clearly, see, hear, and respond effectively to students, staff, and administrators at all times
  • Ability to fulfill all commitments of the educational program throughout the school year
