About the Church of Saint Paul
The Church of Saint Paul (COSP) is a dynamic Catholic parish of 1400 families empowered by the Holy Spirit to be the Body of Christ alive in our world today. Located in Ham Lake, MN, COSP follows a five-step discipleship pathway to maintain the strength of our community and help individuals become intentional disciples of Jesus Christ through acts of prayer, service, connection, giving, and inviting.
Position Summary
The Director of Liturgy and Music will assist in creating a culture of engaging worship for weekend Masses as well as other liturgical and community celebrations. This position plays a key role in continuing our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ by bringing people into a loving, personal relationship with God, living in the power of the Holy Spirit, and being in communion with the Catholic Church. The successful candidate will collaborate with clergy, musicians, ministry leaders, volunteers, and staff to plan and execute liturgies and music to create an irresistible environment that inspires people to take the next step in their faith. Schedule to be determined. Weekend, evening, and other hours required (i.e., Holy Week, Christmas, special events).
Primary Responsibilities
- Create an inviting, inspiring, and worshipful atmosphere in which people can meet God and experience the presence of the Holy Spirit through the effective management of liturgy and music.
- Through pastoral and organizational leadership, develop and oversee volunteer teams for all elements of liturgy, music, streaming, and audio production at weekend Masses and other events (Holy Days, Praise and Worship Nights, Parish Events, Communal Penance Services, Weddings, Funerals, Baptisms, and other events or activities).
- Recruit, screen, mentor, enrich, and recognize all volunteer ministry leaders supporting the scope of this position.
- Participate in and manage music groups for Masses and other events.
- Set the vision for the Art and Environment team, helping to select and implement seasonally appropriate, aesthetically pleasing church decorations.
- Work closely with the Next Steps Director to develop and execute programs and opportunities for faith development participants.
- Serve as a resource for the development of youth worship with peer leadership.

Qualifications and Required Competencies
- Practicing Catholic who desires to make Jesus known and loved.
- Highly motivated and driven to inspire continuous improvement and innovation.
- Strong relational skills with high emotional intelligence; strategic thinker with proven ability to motivate others and delegate effectively.
- Strong musical acumen, ability to read music, and lead worship. Competency in guitar and/or keyboard preferred.
- Proficient audio and visual technical skills with a special focus on sound engineering, streaming equipment, and visual graphics management software.
- Knowledgeable of Catholic liturgical rites (i.e., GIRM).
- Must be Essential 3 compliant on the first day of employment as required by the archdiocese.
Physical Demands
- Able to work 40 or more hours per week (including weekends and Holy Days).
- Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time (3+ hours).
- Able to climb ladders.
- Able to lift at least 40 pounds (materials, supplies, etc.) using proper techniques.
