Description
The Church of the Assumption, a large, vibrant parish in downtown St. Paul serving families from St. Paul and surrounding communities, is seeking a Director of Faith Formation to lead and coordinate parish faith formation and sacramental preparation efforts.
Working closely with the Pastor and parish staff, this full-time position will help assess, strengthen, and expand the parish's faith formation programs for children, youth, and adults, with particular attention in the coming year to youth faith formation and sacramental preparation.
The Director of Faith Formation will also collaborate with other parish leaders and directors to support a unified vision for lifelong Catholic formation within the parish.
Representative Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, coordination, and evaluation of parish faith formation programs for children, youth, and adults.
- Evaluate and strengthen the current family faith formation program, including schedule, format, and effectiveness.
- Oversee sacramental preparation for youth, including First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation, in accord with Archdiocesan standards.
- Collaborate with parish staff to support and develop adult faith formation opportunities, including parish-wide catechetical, evangelization and discipleship efforts
- Recruit, train, support, and supervise catechists and volunteers involved in faith formation programs.
- Ensure that curriculum, teaching, and programming remain faithful to Catholic teaching and aligned with parish and Archdiocesan expectations.
- Coordinate registration, communication, calendars, and recordkeeping for faith formation and sacramental programs.
- Maintain compliance with Safe Environment requirements, background checks, and related Archdiocesan policies.
- Work with parish leadership on planning, budgeting, and program development related to faith formation.
- Participate in parish staff meetings, pastoral offerings, parish and community events, and ongoing professional and spiritual formation.

Qualifications
- Practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church and committed to the mission of parish ministry.
- Bachelor's or master’s degree (preferred) in theology, religious education, Catholic studies, or a related field preferred; comparable experience in parish ministry will be considered.
- Knowledge of Catholic theology, catechesis, sacramental preparation, and the life of the Church.
- Experience in parish faith formation, Catholic education, catechetical leadership, or related ministry work.
- Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with parish staff, volunteers, parents, and parishioners of all ages.
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends as required by parish programming.
- Proficiency with common office and communication tools, including email, Microsoft Office, and related parish systems.
- Ability to complete and maintain required background checks, Safe Environment training, and Archdiocesan compliance requirements.
