1st Grade Teacher- Highland Catholic School, St. Paul

Highland Catholic School is looking for a vibrant full-time first grade teacher.  This candidate would be required to prepare and deliver the full curriculum to their students.  Teachers are supported by teaching assistants, reading specialist, and teachers in Spanish, Physical Education, Music, Visual Arts, and Library.  The emphasis is on early reading through the Science of Reading and fundamental math skills.  Class management includes developing early social skills and incorporating our Olweus Anti-Bullying Program into lessons.  The two first grade teachers work together to coordinate lessons, field trips, and home communication.

Highland Catholic School is the parish school of Lumen Christi Catholic Community in Highland Park.  We serve families from the parish and surrounding community.  The Catholic Social Teachings lead both the parish and school to acts of justice and charity.

The candidate needs a passion for first graders with knowledge of their developmental needs.  State teaching license required.  Ability to be flexible, creative, and positive.  Able to integrate technology in lessons with interactive board and class set of ipads.  Experience working with a team member.  Strong management skills and a flair for creating a compelling learning space.  We are interested in a positive role model who loves learning and is called to help foster the spiritual growth of our first graders.
