Description

Saint Mary of the Lake is seeking an Operations Manager to help build a parish where Sunday Mass is excellent, staff are aligned, and mission drives everything we do. This role is not simply about maintaining systems but rather, it is about strengthening the operational foundation of a growing, mission-focused parish.

The Operations Manager serves as a key partner to the Pastor, taking ownership of day-to-day operations and execution so that the Pastor can focus on spiritual leadership, preaching, and vision. This is a leadership role for someone who brings both professional excellence and a desire to serve the Church in a meaningful way.

The Operations Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient running of parish operations, including administration, facilities, and staff coordination. This person brings structure, clarity, and accountability to the organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing day-to-day parish operations and administrative functions

  • Supervising and supporting parish staff to ensure clarity, alignment, and execution

  • Managing facilities, vendors, and operational systems across parish buildings

  • Partnering with finance (and PASC) to ensure strong financial processes and stewardship

  • Implementing systems and processes that improve efficiency and reduce friction

  • Supporting the Pastor in executing parish priorities and strategic initiatives

Who We’re Looking For

This role may be a strong fit for someone who:

  • Has significant experience in operations, business, nonprofit leadership, or a similar field

  • Has led teams and is comfortable holding others accountable with clarity and charity

  • Naturally brings order, structure, and follow-through to complex environments

  • Is motivated by mission and is drawn to contribute to the life of the Church

  • Desires to use their professional experience in a role of service and impact

  • Is proactive, steady, and able to move initiatives forward without constant direction

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of relevant professional experience (operations, management, administration, or similar)

  • Proven ability to lead people, manage systems, and execute projects

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Comfort working in a collaborative, mission-driven environment

  • Practicing Catholic preferred, or a sincere respect for and alignment with the mission of the Church

Application Instructions

Please submit a resume and a brief cover letter outlining your interest in the role and relevant experience to the Pastor, Fr. Andrew Zipp (fr.zipp@smlplymouth.org)
