Description
Our Lady of Grace Catholic School is seeking a caring, compassionate, positive, proactive, organized, collaborative, efficient, independent, ambitious, and self-motivated individual to work at our school as an Elementary Teaching Assistant. The primary responsibilities of Teaching Assistants are to support student learning by teaming with the classroom teacher. Successful Teaching Assistants must be able to balance and prioritize many needs at one time, remain calm and patient under pressure, and establish and maintain positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly licensed teacher to gain experience.
Responsibilities Include:
● Work with Classroom Teacher to oversee student learning
● Teach small groups of students
● Work with individual students
● Help Classroom Teacher to manage student behavior
● Assist with organizational tasks in the classroom including project and lesson prep
● Supervise recess
● Supervise lunch
● Help students at arrival and dismissal
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
● High School Diploma
● Proven experience working with children
● Effective oral and written communication
● Familiarity with educational systems
● Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to become certified)
● Understanding of basic child development
● Bachelor’s degree in education or related field
