Full-Time Director of Social Justice – St. Joseph the Worker, Maple Grove
Job DescriptionAn active and progressive parish of 2000 households seeks to add a pastoral team member in the position of Director of Social Justice. Primary focus in this position is justice advocacy and outreach. Desire a candidate with an advanced level of training/experience in Catholic Social Teaching, Justice, and Community Outreach. The ideal candidate values participation from the community (i.e., shared ministry), and to that extent is a planner, organizer, and encourager. This is essential in an already established and successful (and very large) social justice ministry department. An appreciation for a more contemporary style of worship and parish life is necessary.
Purpose: To build a community which welcomes and cares for all people while reaching out to the deprived and oppressed and working for justice on their behalf. To instill the parish community with the conviction that justice seeking is a constitutional dimension of Christian life and spirituality. To coordinate and manage the social advocacy efforts of the parish, which includes help to those in crisis, providing assistance to those in need, and advocating for justice based on Catholic Social Teaching.
Job Qualifications1. Demonstrate understanding and acceptance of Catholic doctrine and Catholic Social Teaching
2. BA or equivalent work experience including budgeting and volunteer supervisory experience; masters preferred.
3. Prior experience in Social Justice, Outreach, Community Development preferred.
4. Experience working in a similar environment
