Job Description

The Church of All Saints Homeschool Co-op is looking to hire a 'Communications' tutor, someone who can help contribute to the creation of four 2-year cycles of curricular content that would feature elements commonly found in a Speech class format and a Theater program. The content would include elements found in the Minnesota State High School League's Speech program, including:
+Creative Expression,
+Discussion,
+Duo Interpretation,
+Extemporaneous Reading,
+Extemporaneous Speaking,
+Great Speeches,
+Humorous Interpretation,
+Informative Speaking,
+Original Oratory,
+Serious Interpretation of Drama,
+Serious Interpretation of Poetry,
+Serious Interpretation of Prose,
+Storytelling,
+Program Oral Interpretation,
+Improv

Each student, ages 10-18, would take this course one semester per year. The students are grouped in the following way: 10-11 year olds, 12-13, 14-15, 16-17. Each of these four groups would need two-year cycles so that the students are getting unique content each year they are in our co-op. The hire would work on Friday mornings, about 30 times per academic year, from roughly 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, with an hour in the middle free to attend Mass. Each age level will feature a different component, giving all of our All Saints students an opportunity to develop and improve in many different fields while still giving them a creative outlet in which to use those gifts in an age-appropriate way. This course will help our students articulately communicate thoughts “by word”.

Job Qualifications

+The candidate must be a practicing Roman Catholic who assents to all of the teachings of Christ and His Church.
+The candidate must be (or become) Virtus-certified
+The candidate must be willing to help create an age-appropriate curricular plan that will allow for unique content each of the eight years a student could forseeably be in our co-op. (Work on this would begin in May or June based on the availability of the hire.)
+The candidate must choose content in each of these subject areas that is compatible with the Church's teachings and that demonstrates a desire to cultivate virtue within each our students.
+The candidate must be organized in order to work at setting-up each age group's work for the semester and then coach the smaller groups within the class.
+The candidate should be someone who can communicate well with parents, giving them some idea of how their son/daughter is progressing.

The Church of All Saints, originally established to serve the expanding Polish Catholic community in Northeast Minneapolis, has now evolved into a parish welcoming any and all who may be looking for a spiritual home.

All Saints Catholic Church is a parish of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, served by the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter (FSSP). All Masses and Sacraments offered by the priests of the Fraternity are offered in the Traditional (Extraordinary) Form of the Roman Rite. All Saints is now also pleased to house the Sisters of the semi-active, semi-contemplative Traditional order 'Filiae Laboris Mariae'. Parishioners come from all over the metro area and beyond, as far as St. Cloud, Glencoe, Rochester, Northfield, Glenwood City, WI, and Lindstrom.

Community Description

The All Saints Homeschool Co-op, originally started in 2013, has been growing ever since its inception, now topping 250 students! We meet roughly 15 times per semester on Fridays. Our core classes consist of Catechism (towards greater faith, knowledge, and love for Almighty God), Choir/Music (towards the worship of Almighty God), and a new focus on Communication in both writing and by word of mouth (towards the end of being an effective evangelist and witness of Christ at work in the world. The Co-op is full of joyful families who love Christ, who love spending time talking with one-another, and who also treasure the camaraderie that such fellowship affords.
