Full-Time Communication & Stewardship Coordinator – St. Bonaventure Catholic Community, Bloomington
Job DescriptionThe Communication Coordinator is responsible for developing all external communications and marketing materials in both print and digital formats to promote the mission of St. Bonaventure Catholic Community. Success will be measured by consistent recognition of our parish in the community. Effective communication will lead to greater participation in the ministries of our parish. The Stewardship Coordinator will facilitate parishioners’ ability to live a life of stewardship and to foster their participation in all aspects of parish life.
Duties & Responsibilities
• *Write and edit copy for print and digital communications (including the bulletin, brochures, postcards and Church’s website)
o Maintain and support the development of our Church brand
o Consistently, dynamically and effectively communicate through parish, local and social media channels
o Effectively share that St. Bonaventure is a vibrant & welcoming Franciscan community.
o Manage social media presence, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube
o Manage and maintain the Church’s website (create & publish frequent, attractive content)
• Post website content including powerful videos and photos.
• Train staff to create and post additional content for website.
o Oversee Publication of Bulletin
o Editor of bi-monthly newsletter
Develop and maintain photography database, brochures, digital media
o Communicate with parishioners frequently & effectively through our MailChimp account or other venues such as FlockNotes, texting
o Create and maintain an App for St. Bonaventure
*Serve as Safe Environment Coordinator for Parish so that parishioners can be stewards
o Ensure that all necessary volunteers have completed the safe environment Essential 3 (Background check, Code of Conduct and Virtus Training)
o Complete Spring Audit Report
o Maintain online record of all Essential 3 requirements completed or in progress
o Maintain files pertinent to volunteer risk management according to Archdiocesan, Insurance, and Parish policy
o Lead Stewardship Committee, as necessary
o Sponsor the Stewardship time/talent/treasure drive, annually in October
o Record all financial & ministry commitments in database for budgeting and planning purposes
o Provide lists to ministry leaders of current volunteers and new recruits
o Provide follow-up mailings/post cards/telephoning so volunteers don’t fall through the cracks
o Identifying parishioner skills, gifts & ministry interests and match to appropriate ministries
o Encourage an awareness and commitment to stewardship
o Update online giving at parishioners’ request on www.Vanco.com
o Plan, organize & lead: Give to the Max Day & MinisTree program during Lent
Job Qualifications• Be an active participating member of the Roman Catholic Church
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, business administration or a related field
• 3-5 years of experience in marketing and communications
• Strong copywriting and editing skills, and knowledge of copyright laws
• Possess computer word-processing, texting, internet, and website skills
• Strong creative ability and graphic design background
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Possess video editing experience
• Possess ability to work well with a wide range of cultures, ages, and personalities
